The Gilleppe dam is an imposing structure in the Ardennes, situated near the town of Jalhay - The dam reservoir, the Lac la Gilleppe, has a capacity of as much as 25 million cubical metres - The enormous dam is one of the oldest concrete dams in all of Europe and construction work lasted from 1869 to 1878 - On 28 July of 1878, the dam was opened by King Leopold II - On top of the dam stands the impressive 13 metre tall sculpture of a Lion - This sculpture is made by the sculptor Félix Bourré, 1831/18.
