Beautiful still life with mice, also a painting with animals, the mice are busy eating the piece of cheese from the ball vase, the painting also has something modern, as you can see that it is a floating table top, the ball vase is beautifully made, as the still life painters it made. The painting is signed Henk Poeder at the bottom right (information about the painter on the RKD (state art and documentation in The Hague, also site.) About the artist: Henk Powder I was born in 1964 "As a toddler, Henk was already busy with markers and tried to imitate his grandfather. Even then, Henk dreamed of making beautiful paintings." When I was 12 years old I bought my first paint and started painting, Watercolor. I learned the painting trade from my father and he taught me the basics. But he thought it was important that I developed my own style. After a few years I wanted more and started working with oil paint. When I was sixteen I sometimes sold a painting from which I could buy my materials again. I am now 59 and have been painting for work for quite some time, I also make illustrations for books. In my early years I started with landscapes, which is what my grandfather also did [Hendrik Powder 1897-1958]. Later I started painting animals that you can encounter in our forest. In recent years I have focused more on still lifes, although I still enjoy painting landscapes and the like. My still lifes are often seen as fine painting, but impressionism is also something I like to do, the light and atmosphere are very important to me. You can all find animals such as birds, bunnies, foxes or a simple little sweet mouse on my panels. Sometimes I like a still life better if it happens to have a mouse or butterfly in it, that makes it a little more cheerful.
