Nurnberg trial guard grouping - 26th Infantry Regiment - cap, trial floorplan, photo's - newspapers, letters, list of defendants - named - 1944 - 1946

Unique grouping belonging to Joseph Krawiecz, former serving with the 90th Infantry Division ''Tough Ombres'' but then was assigned to the the 26th Infantry Regiment. Joseph Krawiecz and other members of the 90th were selected to serve as guards for the International Military Tribunal at Nuremberg. Its purpose was to seek justice for crimes against humanity, evidenced by the Holocaust, perpetrated by Nazi Germany. Joseph was assigned to guard prisoners being prosecuted during the Trial of Major German War Criminals for crimes against peace, war crimes, crimes against humanity, and conspiracy to commit these crimes. He guarded the defendants in their cells and then was assigned to stand guard in the courtroom during the proceedings. This unique grouping consists of; - A NURNBERG TRIAL FLOORPLAN produced prior to the trial. The document states GERMANY, NOV 20, 1945 -' (no completion date as the trial was still on-going), a second page with the layout and seating arrangement of the court room showing where each war criminal was seated, and 5 sheets that provide a dossier on each of the 21 war criminals. - The cap of Joseph Krawiecz that he worn throughout the trials, with the 26th infantry regiment insignia - An original private photo of what I believe is of the Nurnberg Trial building terrain - Several newspaper (clippings)/paper related to the trial - Several other photo's of Joseph in uniform - Several named Army documents to Joseph - Several programs and letters home in the time of the nurnberg trial, I have not studied them in detail but it does mention nürnberg Altogether a great and rather unique set. Great historic Nurnberg-trial grouping for your WW2 collection!
