The sphere is the characteristic deep purple color separated by planes, with some slightly cloudy toneless areas with a varied concentration of veils and also some interesting phantom layers inside. The purple tone degradés to quartz translucency. The Amethyst sphere is from Brazil. The Nero Portoro marble base from the tuscan region of Porto Venere, Italy, the only region of the world where it is mined. It is the highest end black marble on the market.
