You are bidding on an amazing old 4/4 violin, labeled "N. Lupot Luthier de la Musique de Roi et de l'Ecole Royale de Musique Paris 1822".
Condition:
Some tears and wears to original golden amber reddish varnish, old repaired cracks on top.
Description:
Good quality medium grained spruce was chosen for the top, and the maple of the one piece back with beautiful grain is softly flamed. Matched sides, neck and scroll. The double purfling is a tasteful work of good craftsmanship, just as the shining, golden amber reddish varnish. Good rosewood and ebony set up, new strings, old master made bridge, the violin is ready to play. The whole length of the violin is 597 mm and the back 354 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 168 mm; middle bouts: 114 mm; lower bouts: 207 mm. Full size, after Maggini.
