Cap d'Or was historically called Cap Doro by the Romans in the first century when they decided to leave the southern slopes. Excellent exposure to sunlight ensures excellent ripening of the grapes and seeds, which also forms the basis for a very natural vinification. 1999 Château Cante Merle Saint-Émilion Grand Cru 2000 Château Petit Bert Saint-Émilion Grand Cru - Saint-Emilion Grand Cru wines are produced under slightly tighter production restrictions than regular Saint-Emilion wines. As with other Grand Cru appellations, the intention behind this is to improve the quality, and to distinguish the area's finer wines from the more everyday wines.
