A composite Near Eastern gold earring featuring a round hoop with beads in different sizes. A circular gold bead sits at the top of the composition, followed by a short cylindrical bead displaying black, white and orange bands. The piece terminates with a large carved pearl, held by a gold wire with a coiled terminal. A small drop of glue has been applied to hold the gold bead. Jewellery played an important role across many Near Eastern civilisations. Gold necklaces, rings, earrings and bracelets would have been worn in everyday life but also buried with the deceased.
