(This can be seen as denoted by the inscription ‘For…name here’ which she only does to people she knows). The dedication is specifically to friend Mary Deanne-Shears, former managing editor of The Toronto Star (and first ever female to hold that role). Mary successfully fought (in the 19700s and 80s) for more women to be employed on the paper and she is a well known campaigner (alongside Atwood), for women’s rights. Toronto is where both ladies reside and The Blind Assassin is itself set in Ontario and Toronto. As the pics show this book is in absolutely stunning, as-new and unread condition.
