Morfea is a painting from the series: "Beauties", in which Musteen investigated in color how the human brain works as in: How little information is needed to still make a beautiful, expressive portrait? These paintings result in almost abstract portraits of imaginary female faces. Musteen used acrylic paint for the colorfields and dripped the outlines in synthetic enamel on top of the surface. This makes these paintings an intruiging image that dances between carefully calculated flat portions of color vs the feral swirl of darker lines. Musteen was born and raised in the Netherlands, She graduated at the Academy of fine arts in 's-Hertogenbosch (the Netherlands) in 1999 in the speciality "ceramics". It wasn't until 2005, when starting to live in Barcelona, that she took to painting on canvas. Since then her art has participated in numerous exhibitions and fairs, her artworks can be found in many private collections all over the world.
