ABOUT THE ARTWORK: This print was created and released exclusively for the Printed Matters: Raise the Level exhibition in Amsterdam. It features the iconic OBEY visual evolved from the "Andre the Giant Has a Posse" visual that has been seen across diverse urban landscapes to challenge traditional notions of art and transforms public spaces into unconventional galleries. By merging it with the striking Amsterdam iconic visual of the 3 crosses, he develops a strong and highly decorative visual. It is unlikely this design will be reprinted, and though not numbered, we believe it is a great collector's item. Fairey describes the OBEY propaganda as an experiment in Phenomenology. Quoting Heidegger on OBEYGIANT.com, he describes Phenomenology as “the process of letting things manifest themselves.” With a philosophy of “the medium is the message,” Fairey claims OBEY is about questioning purpose and your surroundings. But ultimately, argues that while OBEY itself has no real meaning, it is reflective of the personality and sensibilities of the consumer.
