Guidalberto marks the new millennium: the 2000 vintage appears on the market with a more accessible price than Sassicaia and with a less complex drinkability, but it does not have aging potential. It does not want to follow in the footsteps of Sassicaia but rather propose itself as a wine that tells of another vocation of the Tenuta San Guido territory. The oratory of San Guido is portrayed on the label and the wine takes its name from the ancestor Guidalberto della Gherardesca, pioneer of agricultural conversion. We are in the first decades of the 19th century when Guidalberto della Gherardesca built the first factories, the first churches and the famous avenue of cypresses, trees useful for marking the boundaries between different crops, in a first phase. The ornamental value of the tall and straight cypresses that run in double rows comes later.
