George C Clark (XlX) - War graves at San Sebastián

I am offering for auction an historically interesting mid 19th century watercolour of gravestones from the Peninsular War in the early 19th century. Sketched by artist George C Clark. Inscribed in detail verso. Shows the gravestone of Lt Col Richard Fletcher amongst others. Further research required. Offered with no reserve! The painting measures 22 x 14 cm. The frame is 32 x 26 cm. Condition of the paintings is fairly good. Please view all pics for accurate condition. The frame is well worn. Ready to hang. Further info: The Peninsular War represents one of the most significant periods in the development of the Corps of Royal Engineers and military engineering in the British Army. Lt Col Sir Richard Fletcher was, for most of the war, Wellington’s Commanding Royal Engineer and the Siege of San Sebastian his nemesis. The war was set to highlight various shortcomings in the provision of military engineering services. From its beginning there were 3 military engineering Corps supporting the Army. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sir_Richard_Fletcher,_1st_Baronet Please note. Due to the fragile nature of old frames and glass, our shippers do not provide insurance for any damage caused during transit. We go to great lengths to ensure each painting is packed and protected to a very high standard but sadly cannot compensate or refund for any damage occurring to frames or glass during transit. Therefore the frame and any glass is a gift to you with zero value and you are bidding on the artwork only. Due to Brexit, there are delays at EU customs borders though the situation is improving. Please do not blame me for delays or any customs duty payable. I really appreciate your understanding and patience. Steve.
