In addition to classically matured Ardbeg from bourbon barrels, port wine barrels add a magnificent taste and surprising color to the Islay malt. Fragrant notes of lavender, vetiver and incense transition into a rich almond nuttiness.
Heavy flavors like damp peat moss and wood smoke mix with creosote and tar before leather and mint chocolate give way to sweet pear crumble and salted caramel.
