The instrument is in ready to play condition with no cracks, good ebony and rosewood set up and new strings. The viola has an excellent high grained spruce of the top and one piece back of not flamed wood with matched sides. Rich golden amber varnish remains in good condition. The whole length of the viola is 685 mm and the back 410 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 198 mm; middle bouts: 128 mm; lower bouts: 240 mm. The sound is very deep, rich, powerful.
