【Product details】

Offered here is an authentic piece of samurai heritage: a hanbo, or half-mask, from the Edo period. The iron-crafted face armor is accentuated by a navy blue throat guard, exhibiting the austere beauty of traditional samurai accouterments. The interior boasts a striking vermilion lacquer finish, a mark of the distinguished craftsmanship of the era.

As befitting its considerable age, the hanbo presents extensive lacquer peeling and evident signs of wear, such as scratches and some rust, which authenticate its use and historical value. There are a few small chips in the iron of the throat guard. Every imperfection in the lacquer and metalwork is a testament to its authenticity and the life it has seen. Please inspect the provided photographs closely to appreciate the full extent of its well-worn condition.

Dimensions: approx. H 17.5 cm W 17.1 cm D 9 cm
