Hand painted icon of the Mother of God - Fireproof bush. The icon is hand painted on wood. The burning bush is an icon of the Mother of God. The name of the icon goes back to the Old Testament image. This type of icons symbolically reveal simultaneously several aspects of her worship and are based on the most important Old Testament canons about the incarnation of Christ. The image has been known since the early centuries of Christianity. The "Burning Bush" was originally depicted as a burning bush in which the image of the Virgin (usually in the form of Oranta) and the kneeling prophet Moses were enclosed. Later, already in the 16th century, a rather complex symbolic-allegorical image was formed in the form of an octagonal star surrounding the image of the Mother of God with the Christ Child. In the center of the icon is an image of the Mother of God with a baby in her arms. A number of symbolic attributes related to Old Testament prophecies: the mountain of Daniel's prophecy, Jacob's ladder, Ezekiel's gate, etc. This image is enclosed in an eight-pointed star formed by two quadrangles - green and red (the natural color of the Bush and the color of the flame that embraced it). Another theme of the icon is the service of the angels of the Mother of God and the worship of the heavenly powers of the miraculous birth of God from the Virgin - their images are located in the rays of an eight-pointed star; among them are archangels and nameless angels - personifications of the elements known from the Expository Palea, the Book of Enoch and other apocryphal writings. In general, this theme is reflected in many liturgical texts from which it is obviously borrowed (cf. e.g. "Every angelic nature marveled at your great incarnation of the work" - Akathist to the Mother of God, kondak IX, etc.). ). The tradition that tells of the miracles performed by the icon has not preserved the story of its acquisition; in Russian icon painting it is known from the middle of the 16th century. The "Inflammable bush" icon is revered as an intercessor. On September 12, 2008, the President of Ukraine signed a decree to create a new holiday - the Day of the Savior of Ukraine, celebrated on the day of the celebration of the icon of the Mother of God "Inflammable Bush".
