Imperium Rosyjskie - Medal - Duplicate "Aninskaya Medal" No. 461365, from WW1 period,

Duplicate "Aninskaya Medal" No. 461365, from WW1 period, most likely ordered to replace the lost original (a common practice among the lower ranks of the Russian Imperial Army). Made from Dark Bronze. Moire Ribbon and Bar Modern. The insignia of the Order of St. Anne ( unofficial name - Anninskaya Medal ) is an award for the lower military ranks of the Russian Empire for length of service and for special, non-combat, feats and merits. It was a silver gilded medal with an image of the order insignia (red wax paint). Established on November 12, 1796 by Emperor Paul I for non-commissioned officers and privates who had served 20 years without blame. Before the establishment of the Insignia of the Military Order in 1807, the Insignia of the Order of St. Anne (Anninsky Medal) was awarded to lower ranks and for military merits. Those awarded the medal were exempt from corporal punishment. From July 11, 1864, due to the reduction in service life from 25 to 7 years, according to the new regulations, the medal began to be awarded both in peacetime and in wartime “ for special feats and merits, not in combat ,” as well as for 10 years of extra-service services. Special merit worthy of an award included, for example: the capture of an important state criminal; saving the dead (if the person nominated for the award was previously awarded the gold medal “For saving the dead” ) [10] . Those awarded for special merits were supposed to wear a medal on an Annin ribbon with a bow, those awarded for long service - without a bow. Rarely And Great Item for You Collection!
