Antique art pieces in the Art Deco, Art Nouveau and Art Nouveau styles are highly sought after by collectors due to their fine quality.
In 1999, the Catto Collection, consisting of eight hundred vases, was donated to the King Baudouin Foundation. this collection mainly consists of vases from the Boch manufactory.the company was founded in 1841 by the Boch family, descendants of the Boch family of Audun-les-Tiches, France, who founded a ceramics company there in 1748 that later became Villeroy & Boch.
The Boch family has been committed to quality construction for decades. thanks to Anna Boch, artists such as Charles van der Stappen and Theo Van Rysselbergh were brought into the production. The family maintained contacts with various artists. For example, Eugene Boch was a good friend of Vincent van Gogh.
The family also cared about the well-being of its employees. A row of houses was built behind the factory for the workers. To promote solidarity, the Confraternity of St. Anthony of Padua was also founded. Named after the patron saint of faience craftsmen. In addition, education was facilitated by the creation of its own vocational school and home economics school. For entertainment and leisure, a choir and its own brass band were provided. All these expansions turned La Louviere into a new town around the factory.
