Polychromed globular vessel with two short tapered spouts connected with a strap bridge handle. Beautifully decorated with two killer whale deities with stylized shape and contrasting colors. Killer whales, found in the seas off the coast of Peru, are cunning and powerful hunters. This vessel depicts a killer whale deity with human arms in addition to fins, representing the fearsome strength of natural forces that had to be appeased by sacrifice. Polychromed ceramic, some surface wear. Professionally restored over fracture lines on the body.
