This radio comes from Czechoslovakia. This type was made from 1953 to 1958. The housing is made of phenol formaldehyde (‘Bakelite’), in red-brown colour. The knobs are made of Urea formaldehyde, in cream colour. There are three dials on it. From left to right: volume on/off, tuning and wavelength. It has Short wave, Medium wave and Long wave. The model 308U has SW-MW-LW range and is suitable for alternating and direct current nets of 120 or 220 volts. The device is based on a Philips “four tube system” from 1941 with loctal tubes. The radio still looks good on the outside. Only the back plate is missing a few pieces. As far as I can judge, the interior is technically in virtually original condition. The original Tesla tubes are for example still in it. Tested and working. The stations can be received but not free of interference. This means that for a good reception, one or the other will need to be checked. So when planning to use it, you should take possible service costs into account.
