Paul Roux, born Paul-Louis-Joseph Roux, September 8, 1851, in Paris, died in March 1918, French painter, engraver and watercolourist.
Pupil of his father, Louis Roux, Alexandre Cabanel and Henri Harpignies, he frees himself from the academic to go and paint from nature, in the forest of Fontainebleau, near Paris, then in Normandy and Brittany. He travels to England and brings his landscape paintings of the English countryside and the banks of the Thames to expose them at the Salon from 1882 on.
From 1870 on Paul Roux exhibits regularly at the Salon de Paris. He often presents etchings and watercolours characterised by a light and subtile touch, full of spontaneity. He is member of the society of French artists,
