Very nice oil on canvas by the famous painter Alfons Van Meirvenne 1962.
Image of an owl, almost abstract, beautiful natural colours, measuring 50 x 60 cm in fine condition.
With thick relief, very well known for animal scenes.
At the back is an old label of Campo ( see the photo ).
Alfons Van Meirvenne is born as part of twins on 6th December 1932 in Haasdonk. His father is André Van Meirvenne, a tree grower, and his mother's name is Margareta Verbraeken.
From 1947 to 1950, Van Meirvenne is a student at the Stedelijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten in Sint-Niklaas. There he receives various prizes and diplomas. On 12th October, 1951, Van Meirvenne passed the entrance exam for the Nationaal Hoger Instituut voor Schone Kunsten in Antwerpen. He studied there from 1951 to 1959. He makes two study trips: one to Italy in 1952 and one to Spain in 1957. Here, he paints a number of landscapes.
Van Meirvenne has been a drawing teacher at the Provinciale School in Antwerpen (PIVA)
