German “Ersatz” bayonet for German Mauser rifle, model EB44 is the rarest of the German flat-blade Ersatz type S98/05 bayonets of World War I. The hilt is made of pressed steel parts that are riveted together. The blade measures 36 cm, the blade of which widens slightly from 26 mm in the ricasso to 32 mm before ending in a spearhead, with a total length of the bayonet of 51 cm long. The bowl bears the seal of acceptance of the German imperial army. The sheathe was constructed similarly to the bayonet hilt made of pressed steel. The pressure button to fit the bayonet works perfectly, as does the bayonet clamping screw to the holster. This bayonet is rare, but finding one with its correct and vintage scabbard is much rarer and highly collectible.
