Sauce boat of solid chased silver 800/1000. Designed by Philippe Wolfers (1858-1929) and dated back to the end of the 19th century. Wolfers was trained in the studio of his father, a recognized goldsmith, in Brussels, Belgium. His first designs for silverware and jewellery were influenced by Japanese handicrafts and naturalism. The excellent works by Philippe Wolfers were of great importance for the entire Art Nouveau period. Inspired by the symbolist movement and its dreamlike themes, he used expensive materials to create luxurious objects, with floral and natural elements, with flowing, wavy symbolic shapes. The master stamp is present. Insured shipping.
