A large set of rosewood and lacquer panels with mainly (untested) jade and some hardstone inlay-ed figures, landscape and (untested) jade carved script. The figures are the Eight Immortals 八仙 and they are depicted residing on a group of islands in the Bohai Sea, which includes Mount Penglai. The poems on the panels can roughly be translated as following: 仙居十二楼之上 大寿八千岁的春 The immortal lives on the twelfth floor of Immortal residence and his life span is eight thousand years. 九霄鹤仙寿千年 Jiuxiao immortal lives for thousands of years. 苍松翠柏古春 Green pines and cypresses in (a) ancient spring. All these panels are wishes for a long life and thus could be gifted to somebody for his/her birthday. Condition: There is wear on rose wood frame, crackle in the lacquer, one hand of a immortal is missing and some dirt collected in the inlay. But overall the panels are in very good condition.
