This is a limited edition super premium rum that commemorates the fifth centenary of the first circumnavigation of the earth, an epic journey that ultimately leads to the landing of the Spanish in the Philippines. Distilled on the mystical and fertile island of Sugarland (as the Island of Negros is known locally) and aged in a unique volcanic climate surrounding the slopes of the active volcano Mount Kanlaon, this full-bodied new expression (bottled at 40% ABV) has developed an additional layer even more complex. Initially aged for two years in ex-bourbon barrels and later transferred to ruby-coloured port barrels for a further five years. As a result, it is a rum with a dark and spicy character with a fruity, warm and persistent flavor that brings to life the majestic port casks. Deep notes of liquorice, polished oak, dark chocolate and muscovado sugar, followed by spicy blood oranges, ripe red fruits and a subtle note of fresh vanilla, which give this rum a unique flavor.
