DESCRIPTION
The philosophy of Roger Zannier's estate combines the wisdom of traditional Douro viticulture with modern scientific knowledge. The sharing of knowledge, the passion, motivation and commitment of the employees, who also cultivate respect for the land and nature, make it possible to improve, vintage after vintage, the quality of the wines of Quinta do Pessegueiro, making it today one of the great Douro wines.
The entire vineyard is farmed in a way that respects the natural balance, banishes herbicides and is close to organic farming. We already have 18 ha (60%) certified and the remaining 12 ha, although not certified, are treated in a very similar way to organic. Each plot is cultivated according to the nature of the soil, the slope, the exposure and the varieties that populate it. The horse is also an essential assistant in the work of the espalier vines.
WINEMAKER: João Cabral Nicolau de Almeida.

Harvest took place in September. The grapes were transported to the winery in 22Kg boxes. They were kept in cold room for 12h, then conducted by gravity to the granite lagares, where complete fermentation took place. Aging was done for 12 months in 225L barrels and 600L casks French and Austrian oak barrels. The wine was bottled in May 2020.

DESCRIPTION
The van Zellers left the Low Countries (Netherlands) due to political and religious reasons. As Catholics, they arrived in Portugal and established themselves in Porto as Port Wine merchants. Through family ties, the van Zellers are linked to the Douro and to the production of its wines since 1620.
Our way is all about respect for the Douro, its diversity, tradition and people is what keeps us in the wine trade. Due to our long history producing wines, to the vastness of the region and the number of indigenous grape varieties, each vineyard is a unique terroir. Our goal is to preserve their character, by selecting old vineyards and carefully nurture them. Our way is to show the world the greatness of Douro DOC wines and Ports.

VINIFICATION
All our grapes were foot trodden in lagares for 1 to 3 days before fermentation, and then fermented in any of the various stainless steel vats for 7 to 10 days at temperatures ranging from 22° to 27° Celsius, with pigeages by hand. We then rack the resulting wines in one and two year old Allier French oak 225 and 300-liter casks from various coopers where they go through malolactic fermentation. All wines are then carefully aged for 21 months in barriques keeping all different fermentations completely separated until the final blending takes place, just about one month before the bottling of the wines.
TASTING NOTES
Black and wild fruit with immense purity involves notes of some mushroom and fresh moss. Juicy and luscious mouth-feel, with a final light texture. A wine that invites a next glass and beautifully pairs with truffle flavoured cheeses or meats, barbecue meats and herbs such as dill, coriander, cilantro and parsley.
