Suzuki Hachiro Ceramics Ash glaze technique Seto City designated craft technique Born in Seto City in the 4th year of Taisho, he began making pottery in the 2nd year of the Showa era. From the age of 20, he received instruction at the Seto Ceramics Association, run by Tatsuyoshi Fujii, and also trained in pottery for four years under his senior, Kiyoshi Kamei. He began his career as an artist in 1945, winning his first prize at the Teiten Exhibition for his red-eating technique, and in 1943 for his ``Oribe Tobako'' work, winning the Nitten Exhibition. From the 1960s onwards, he left public exhibitions and began researching and reproducing old pottery. The focus is on reproducing ash-glazed pottery from the Kamakura period, including publishing the ``Koseto Pattern Handbook'' which is a compilation of the seal patterns of ``Koseto,'' firing in an anagama kiln restored in Toyota City, and holding the ``Anagama Works Exhibition.'' I have been engaged in pottery making activities. Condition is very good. This is a very good bowl with a beautiful ash glaze.
