Marx published the first ten-volume collected works of Anton Pavlovich Chekhov (1860-1904), prepared for publication by the author himself. Two years later, in 1903, this collection of works in an expanded composition - already in 16 volumes - appeared again as a supplement to the Niva magazine, also published by Marx. Volumes 17-22 were published after A.P.’s death. Chekhov, i.e. after 1904. Thus, the collection began to number 22 volumes. In this form, it was republished by Marx several times, and in 1916 the last, additional, 23rd volume was released.
