Offered for auction is a beautiful 100% original Franlin D Roosevelt / White HouseLetter as given just prior to the invasion of Europe. Dating most likely from the D-Day era, but not excluding being issued around November of 1943 for TORCH, the invasion of North Africa, FDR mentions this document going out to all army personnel “where the war is being fought.”The document bears the facsimile signature of Franklin D. Roosevelt. The size is nearly identical to those issued by SHAEF for the D-Day landings, and all subsequent communiques. This one is much more difficult to find than the SHAEF version. It has an amazing patina and has the characteristic 3 place fold which all originals should have - it also has the ORIGINAL envelop in which it was given to the soldiers! In clearly used condition. Folded just like Eisenhower’s first communique issued before the D-Day Invasion. It shows beautiful aging around the corners, and the characteristic patina of old paper. A very nice original, clear from the wear, type of paper and the details of the text, showing it is a guaranteed original example.
