Lovely Belle Epoque genre scene by Fichel, Eugène Benjamin Fichel (Fichell) . He was born in 1826 in Paris, † 1895 ibid, husband and teacher of Jeanne Fichel. Stud: from 1841 ECBA Paris under Michel-Martin Drölling and Paul Delaroche. As the family´s career as a painter not support, temporary work as an actor (1847 debut at the Théâtre de l´Odéon) for a living. 1847 trip to Rome. - initially historical and religious subjects, then historical (especially 18th century) genre and interiors, also portraits. The example of Ernest Meissonier following and participatory in his popularity, F. devotes anekdot. Moral narrative in naturalist.-precision, miniature-like technique (usually the smallest sizes) in sketches he uses a freer style of painting. Illustrations to A. Dumas the Younger, L´affaire Clemenceau, 1866 (with M. Levy), in V. Hugo, Torquemada, Amy Robsart, Les Jumeaux, 1893 (; Mme Victor Hugo, Victor Hugo raconté témoin par un de sa vie, 1892 F. Testard).
