Original woodblock print, – Watanabe Ikuharu 渡辺幾春 (1895-1975)- From the series - ‘Hatsushimotsuki monoomoi'初霜月 物思い(October Lunar calender)-"Showa Bijo sugata kisoi" 昭和美女姿競 (Competing beaties in the Showa era) -Shōwa period (1926-1989) Born in Egawabata-cho, Nishi-ku, Nagoya in 1893. At the age of 9, he became an apprentice to Yoshitoshi Mizutani(水谷芳年), a Japanese-style painter in Nagoya, and after studying Japanese-style painting, he moved to Tokyo in 1917. In the following year, 1918, at the age of 23, he was selected for the first time with his work ``Crape myrtle'' at the 12th Bunten exhibition. After that, in 1922, she entered Kyoto Municipal Painting College (currently Kyoto City University of Arts) special course, and in the same year, she was selected for the 4th Teiten Exhibition with 'Young Woman'. Also, from the same year to 1925, after graduating from the same school, he studied under Shunkyo YAMAMOTO(山元春挙) in Kyoto. In 1924, when Ikuharu returned to Nagoya at the age of 29, he founded the Chukyo Bijutsuin with Kashiro Asami, Mugiko Kitamura, Anzu Oda and other local painters, aiming to revolutionize Japanese painting. After that, he was active in the art world based in Kyoto and Nagoya, and Ikuharu's calm paintings of beautiful women based on ukiyo-e became bold and tense paintings from the Taisho era to the early Showa era. She mainly produces woodblock prints called shinhanga, and one of her representative works is the Showa Bijin Sugatai series. Condition: some small stains and discolouring see images
