5x 1988 Château Moulin Pey Labrie , Canon-Fronsac 1x 1986 Chateau Roc Saint Bernard, Fronsac Presentation Château Moulin Pey Labrie owes its name to a very old mill located in the heart of the prestigious Canon Fronsac appellation, and to the place where the “Pey” vineyard is located, meaning “the top of the hillside”. Paul Princeteau in 1960, father of the famous animal painter and friend of Toulouse-Lautrec, owned the estate. Currently, Bénédicte and Grégoire Hubau provide their attentive care to the cultivation and winemaking of the estate. Originally from the North of France, their love and passion for wine pushed them to leave their roots to come and settle in Moulin Pey Labrie. Canon-Fronsac The Canon-Fronsac AOC extends over 280 ha, west of Libourne. With Fronsac the name Canon-Fronsac form the Fronsadais, an important part of the Libournais. On soils are close to those of Saint-Emilion, made up of limestone asterries and Molasse of the Fronsadais, Canon-Fronsac produces 13 000 hl of red wines each year. The wines of Canon-Fronsac are made from Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The conjugation of these different elements gives fairly delicate wines that keep a solid tannic structure. The wines of the AOC Canon-Fronsac are distinguished by their aromas of red berries and spices and which are transformed over time into flavors of truffles. Vintage description 1988 Bordeaux This vintage is often overshadowed by the next one. Médoc had a magnificent summer. Some of the estates, concerned about rot and late rain, harvested the Cabernet Sauvignon too early. The domains that avoided this mistake, had some very good wines, particularly in the Margaux appellation. Colourful, strong and excessively tannic, the great wines of northern Médoc distinguish themselves with their incredible cellaring capacity. Harvested at optimal maturity, the Pomerols and Saint Emilions are lovely and rich. Graves is probably the appellation with the best wines. The dry white wines are rich and perfectly-balanced. This is a great vintage for sweet wines, one of the best in the century. The Sauternes, marvellously rich and concentrated, have an incomparable aromatic strength.
