Founded in the 1850s, Schatz was for years the leading manufacturer of classic ship’s instruments. For sale, a fine example of their top-of-the-range barometer, made in West Germany pre-1992. It shows superb workmanship and is fully functional. The barometer is in near-mint vintage condition with only light patina (photos). The lacquered brass housing is fine, without cracks, dents or major blemishes. The dial is in excellent condition. The door is secured by a brass closure. The facet-cut glass port is clean and intact. The barometer is calibrated in both millibars and inches (mercury units). There is a fine capillary thermometer (Celsius/Fahrenheit). The barometer may need adjusting after transport, easily done with a screwdriver via front access (photo #4).
