Jean Gabriel DOMERGUE (1889-1962) probably also used the pseudonym "Boxia",
He is a frz. Painter, fashion illustrator and illustrator (1889 Bordeaux to 1962 Paris),
studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris with Jules Lefebvre, Tony Robert-Fleury,
Jules Adler, Fernand Humbert and Francois Flameng, member of the Société des
Artistes Francais in Paris, whose salon he attended from 1906, 1911 honored with
the Prix de Rome and stay in the Villa Medici in Rome, from 1920 turn to portrait
painting and the representation of elegant Parisian women, is considered the inventor
of the pin-up girl, subsequently advanced to portraitist of the nobility and other
celebrities, organized high society balls in Paris, Cannes, Monte Carlo, Juan-les-Pins,
Biarritz and Deauville, worked as a fashion designer for Paul Poiret and Henry Marque,
1955-62 curator of the Musée Jacquemart-André, member of the Academy of Arts
and Knight of the Legion of Honor, active in Paris and parallel from ca. 1932
in his "Villa Fiesole" in Cannes
