Maruyama Okyo “円山応挙”(1733-1795) was an 18th century Japanese ink painter. He was famous for painting animals, especially tigers. The artist's characteristic is to focus on sketching, depicting the forms of animals and plants from various angles. His public collections can be seen in the British Museum, the Tokyo National Museum, the University of California Art Museum!
The cover was inscribed by a collector named "Ryu".
