(Anton Wilhelm) Faber, a descendant of original founder Kaspar Faber, created his own company in 1936 and debuted with this first edition pencil sharpener made only from 1936 to 1941. This first edition, Model 52/1, is a clock design with grasping jaws which A.W. Faber patented. The jaws held the pencil while the milling bits inside rotated around the pencil when one turns the crank. It is a design that shaped pencil sharpening for years to come. This model came mounted on a wooden base that could be affixed to a desk top. The wooden base is still present on this one offered here. Although it has wear and tear, it is in good condition for its age and still does its job very well.
