Velier Royal Navy was born from the desire to recreate the Royal Navy blend. The Royal Navy were assemblages of young rums from the various British Caribbean colonies. Tiger Shark is the second Velier Royal Navy release, a rum resulting from the forty years of experience of Luca Gargano, owner of Velier. This spirit comes from the assembly of rums distilled exclusively in pot stills and aged in the place of production, the tropics. The distilleries of origin remain absolutely secret. Tiger Shark, or "tiger shark", is the nom de guerre that Luca Gargano acquired one day, going fishing in Polynesia, on the island of Anaa, where his name is Ruruki - or "tiger shark" in the local language. As he himself recounts in the book Nomade tra i barrels (Edizioni Velier): "The first day I go fishing with Tupana, a shark arrives and starts circling me. So I do as Tupana told me, I hit the harpoon on the water and I see the shark moving away. But then suddenly I look up and see Tupana waving her arms, running through the water towards me. She is screaming something, even though, in the roar of the waves crashing on the coral reef, I I can't hear him. However, his gestures are unmistakable: he's signaling me to run away, to run towards the beach. So, without knowing what's happening, I hug the catch to my chest and run out of the water, tripping and injuring myself. when we are safe, Tupana will tell me that what I sent away was not a shark.
