Mark Andrew Spitz (born February 10, 1950) is an American former competitive swimmer and nine-time Olympic champion. He was the most successful competitor at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, winning seven gold medals, each in world-record time.
Here he is seen diving into the Olympic swimming pool in an interpretation by the British artist David Hockney. This hand-signed blue ink autograph by Spitz onto a large photo (20x30cms) is entitled 'Olympische Spiele München 1972' (Olympic Games Munich 1972).
