What You Didn't Know About Watches!

Watches, everybody has one or even multiple ones. Some wear it as jewelry, some as a stopwatch and still others wear it simply to keep track of time. Whether you're a watch collector or simply like to wear a nice watch, we're convinced that you weren't aware of these 10 watch facts...

1. Left hand vs right hand
A watch is usually worn on the wrist of the non-dominant hand. So if you're right-handed, you wear your watch on the left wrist. If you're left-handed, your watch should be on the right wrist. Statistics have shown that 86% of the people wear their watch on the left side and 14% on the right side.

2. Set to 10 to 2
In shop windows, watches are almost always set to 10 to 2. This way, the hands look like a smiley face which affects the consumer's mood so he'll be more likely to make a purchase.

3. Most expensive watch ever
The most expensive watch ever was a Chopard and it was no less than 25 million dollar. You could have 50 Lamborghinis lined up in your driveway for that amount of money.

4. Watch with the most complications
Patek Philippe manufactured a watch with 1728 parts, while an average watch has 100 parts.

5. Titanic Watch

6. In 1926, Rolex manufactured the first waterproof watch

7. Eric Clapton
Guitar player Eric Clapton had his watch auctioned in 2012 for a mere 3 million euros. An anonymous Asian bidder managed to acquire the 25-year old Patek Philippe. It's unknown what Eric Clapton paid for the watch.

8. The Omega Speedmaster is the only watch ever worn on the moon

9. Originally for ladies
A wristwatch was originally intended for ladies. Only during WWI did men discover that wristwatches were much more convenient.

10. Pocketwatches
