Philips type 7424 flashlight from World War II. This type 7424 flashlight from World War II was developed by Philips. The flashlight got its nickname by the sound that it produced when operated. A cat-like whining sound. Due to a shortage of all kinds of raw materials and products, and the lack of batteries, one was forced to think creatively about the smallest objects for our daily use. Due to the blackout it had become very important to have a light in the darkness. Philips had a convenient solution for this in the form of the flashlight, a flashlight that worked by manual control. The flashlight was invented by Ir. L.J. Kalff. Although the flashlight pass was patented in 1942, the production started from 1941. Philips also made flashlights for the German Wehrmacht, this production was made from the late 1940s in camp Vught. Along with the infamous batteries factory of the Vught of the B677 special workshop of Philips of which all employees working there were deported to Auschwitz with the transport of June 1944.
