British "Schermuly Rocket Pistol Apparatus (SPRA)" 1920-1945

British Schermuly Rocket Pistol Apparatus (SPRA) in very good condition. This was a gun that could shoot off lines over a distance of 250 yards. Versatile, think of lifelines, phone lines, barbed wire etc. etc. It was also during the first world war that the idea came to develop this kind of items to make communication at the front safer by firing off messages, instead of sending messengers ("runners") and for the construction of barbed wire fences. Developed by William Schermully at the end of WW1 and from 1920 officially purchased by the British army. The gun has saved many a life at sea from that period and was during WW2 used extensively both on land and sea. This version is fully functioning and implemented in brass with metal and wooden handles. That is why I expect this is the 1st model, because type 2 was executed with a bakelite handle on the launch tube. Beautiful marked and complete with British decline stamps (crowned "V" & "GP") from that period. The last two images show British soldiers who demonstrate the Schermuly to officers (Ww2 period) and a total set of material that could be used ...
