- Tibetan Buddhist Manjushri Statue with Shakti, Bodhisattva of Wisdom - Manjushri is the Bodhisattva of keen awareness in Buddhism. A disciple of the historical Buddha Shakyamuni, he represents wisdom, intelligence and realization, and is one of the most popular Bodhisattvas following Avalokitesvara. He is worshipped as the “ Meditational Deity ” in Esoteric Buddhism . The Sanskrit name of Manjushri is “ Prajna ” which means “gentle glory”, “He who is noble and gentle”, “soft glory”, “Wondrous Auspiciousness” and so on. The meditation halls, libraries, and studies room of Buddhist monasteries often consists of image of Manjushri Bodhisattva . Manjushri is one of the famous Bodhisattva who has been respected greatly in Chinese, Esoteric , Tibetan and Nepalese Buddhism and so on. The male Bodhisattva, Manjushri in Tibetan "Jampalyang" is depicted brandishing the sword of wisdom and light in his right hand, representing his realization of wisdom which cuts through ignorance and wrong views. The scripture held in his left on the blue lotus is the Prajnaparamita, representing his attainment of ultimate realization from the blossoming of wisdom and enlightenment. In his left hand is in Jnana Mudra, the teaching gesture. He is seated on a single lotus throne and is inlaid with turquoise and Tibetan Mountain coral stone beads. His counterpart is presented as Shakti or Devanagari: शक्ति, Shakti is the concept or personification of divine feminine creative power, sometimes referred to as 'The Great Divine Mother'. Manjushri holds magnificent tale in Nepal . The Kathmandu Valley was believed to be a lake and hold a beautiful and magnificent lotus flower in the middle of the lake according to Swayambhu Purana. And it is said that Manjushri made a cut with his sword at the Chobhar Gorge, at the Jal Binayak Temple and allow the lake to drain. And the lotus flower was believed to reside on the top of a mountain and the mountain became Swayambhunath Stupa and the valley became habitable. Yab-Yum is a tantric symbol of mystic union of male and female polarities. Masculine energy is compassion, and feminine energy is wisdom. The two acting in consort is the enlightened mind. This master two piece statue is very finely ingraved and made from Tibetan copper with is unique darker patina. The bottom of the Lotus throne is signed with a small double Dorje.
