This German – partly hand-made - mask was made in the Achatit Werkstätten between the years 1950-1959. Achatit is a composite substance (protected brand name) made from crushed stone and wood with a binding substance that is made in a plaster mould. After staining, polishing and finishing, the material has a characteristic gloss that gives the mask depth and relief. The company specialized in pseudo art-deco women masks and children's images. In beautiful condition apart from two minimal ' surface abrasions' on the back where the mask was hung against the wall. The height of the head is 24.5 cm, the width 15 cm and the depth 14 cm.
