Richard Sapper for Alessi - Kettle
The Sapper kettle by Alessi is not only a treat to the eyes, but also to the ear. The designer of this item, Richard Sapper, designed an ingenious system in 1983 so that when the water is boiling, the kettle will play a pleasant melody instead of the usual unpleasant high-pitched whistle. This melody is inspired by the sounds of the boats floating along the Rijn river. The brass flute, fabricated by craftsmen in the Black Forest, produces the mi and si tones.
This Sapper kettle by Alessi is still in very good condition. No dents to be found. Made of reflective stainless steel. The handle is made of plastic and the flute is made of brass. The kettle has a diameter of 16.5 cm and a height of 19 cm. It holds 2 litres of water.
