Zeiss - Freiberger sextant black in mint condition
This sextant is the renowned Freiburger drum sextant, which has become almost a standard for the current sextants. Made from the 1950s in the last century. This late copy is in black and is in excellent condition. It looks like it is not or hardly used.
The black lacquered frame is without damage. The index mirror is whole, without damage. Perpendicular index mirror. The mirror is a full view mirror, in which there are no two parts (one part mirror and part transparent) but the whole surface is reflective and transparent. The viewfinder is of top quality of Carl Zeiss Jena and has a 4 x magnifying with an effective opening of 40 mm. The four filters are undamaged. The handle is made of wood. An original adjusting key is present. The sextant is calibrated. Weight is 1.4 kg. With chest 4.5 kg.
It is calibrated and certified by Datema-Delfzijl in 1994 and shows bad very slight corrections up to 0.6 minute, which in practice is negligible. An original manual in English. The whole in a nice wooden box with dovetail connection. The box is lockable and has two keys.
A beautiful sextant that is fine to use. Freiberger sextants are still used worldwide for quality and reliability.
The sextant is well packed shipped worldwide.
