Ryssland - Sylvestr Krnka - Model 1857 - Single Shot - Slagverk - Musköt - 15.2mm

This unique rifle is a Russian muzzle loader Model 1857 Six Line Infantry Musket, designed by Czech gunmaker Sylvester Krnka. Personal research and by an expert show that all proof marks are marching. The barrel was made in Belgium and had proof marks from Liège, since the Russians bought Belgian barrels at the time. All other parts, including even the screws, are marked with Tula and Izhevsk proof marks from their factories in Russia. Unlike nowadays, the parts are serialized with part numbers, not with the serial number of the rifle itself. The wood has not been bleached or sanded, but instead is light oak wood, which isn’t rare for Russian firearms. The wood, as well as the steel barrel and the brass inlays like the nose cap, stock plate and trigger guard are in perfect condition. Many of this model have been converted in 1867 into a breach loader, named the M1857/67 Krnka. This specific one was made in 1872 as one of the last of its kind.
