In the 60s of the 20th century, the leading designer of the Tula Arms Factory Efim Leontyevich Khaidurov developed the legendary sports revolver TOZ-36, developed on the basis of the revolver "Nagan" of 1895 and very popular among sportsmen. In 1967, the revolver was upgraded and equipped with an orthopaedic handle. Its design uses the principle of the thrust of the drum on the barrel, thereby creating an ideal alignment of the drum chamber with the barrel bore.
