Beautiful piece of Art Nouveau, nicely coloured floral whip motif in high relief and beautiful text. Bronze faucet and beautifully decorated knob on the lid. Beautiful and very rare! The Berkefeld Filter is a water filter made of stoneware. Berkefeld is the name of the owner of the mine in Hannover, Germany where the stoneware was made. Mostly used in pharmacies and richer circles. Tap water was not available, so it was vital that people could drink purified water to prevent diseases caused by dirty drinking water such as cholera and typhoid. In excellent condition! Nice used condition with some slight lime traces on the inside, nothing disturbing, this can possibly be polished off. See photos. Total height = 50 cm. Diameter = 21 cm.
