In 1951, the 24-year-old Franche-Comté Gérard Mantion had an original idea for the time: to sell watches by mail order to private individuals. From a small store on Jeanneney street in the watchmaking city of Besançon, he and his wife launched their first 12-page catalogue presenting 67 models of watches for men and women.
